This case study describes the development and functionality of the Caribbean Assessment Regional DROught Tool (CARiDRO), a web-based application designed to facilitate drought assessment at regional and grid-point levels for the Caribbean and Central America regions using both observed and modelled datasets.

This case study uses the Caribbean Assessment of Regional Drought (CARiDRO) tool to analyze the 2009-2010 drought in the Eastern Caribbean and project future drought risks between 2011 and 2070. The analysis indicates that droughts similar to the 2009-2010 event will become significantly more frequent and intense, with projections showing an increase in the affected area after the mid-21st century.
