African contributions to UN peacekeeping missions at the end of April 2006

• At the end of April 2006, the total contribution from African countries to UN peacekeeping missions consisted of 20,669 personnel, comprising 17,692 troops, 2,090 police, and 887 military observers.
• Ghana provided the highest total number of personnel among the listed African countries with 2,561 contributors, followed by Nigeria with 2,446 and South Africa with 2,012.
• Ethiopia contributed the largest number of troops individually, providing 2,738 personnel.
