The 33rd Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) approved the core budget for 2025–2026 and adopted the Asunción Declaration on Water Security, Biodiversity, and Climate Resilience in the Americas. The meeting focused on strengthening the link between science and policy through regional mechanisms and the invitation of new Associates, including the World Meteorological Organization, the American Geophysical Union, and the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research. Additionally, the Conference approved an Open Access to Data and Publications Policy and revised procedures for granting permanent observer status.

The GCF Board's 27th meeting resulted in the adoption of the Updated Strategic Plan (2020–2023), which sets goals for the first replenishment period (GCF-1), including a 50:50 balance between mitigation and adaptation funding. The Board approved 15 funding proposals, including several REDD-plus and Simplified Approval Process (SAP) projects, and accredited four new entities. The meeting also covered the 2021 administrative budget, work plans for independent units, and discussions on the Integrated Results Management Framework (IRMF) and the MOPAN assessment.

The 27th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) approved the 2019-2020 Core Budget and adopted the IAI Strategic Plan and a revised Scientific Agenda. Key decisions include the invitation of the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute (Colombia) and Estación Científica COIBA AIP (Panama) to become Associates, and the instruction to implement the Science and Technology Policy (STeP) Fellowships Program. The IAI Directorate was also directed to explore collaboration with the Green Climate Fund and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research to address climate change and global change research.

The GCF Board's fourteenth meeting resulted in the approval of 10 funding proposals totaling approximately USD 788 million and the accreditation of 8 new entities. Key outcomes include the appointment of Mr. Howard Bamsey as Executive Director, the adoption of a strategy for accreditation prioritization, and a performance review of the World Bank as Interim Trustee, which highlighted a challenge regarding direct cash transfers to non-accredited executing entities.

The sixth meeting of the IAI Conference of the Parties (CoP) focused on administrative governance, financial restructuring, and the approval of operational plans. Key outcomes included an amendment to the IAI Creation Agreement to modify the structure of voluntary contributions for operating expenses, the authorization for the Executive Directorate to manage donations from external scientific and technical organizations, and the approval of the 1999/2000 basic budget. The CoP also reviewed a feasibility study by the World Meteorological Organization for an El Niño center in Ecuador and designated Mexico as the host for the seventh CoP meeting in 2000.

Decision 7 of the XVI Forum of Ministers of the Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean establishes a regional network of authorities to address atmospheric pollution between 2008 and 2009, focusing on technical exchanges, capacity development, and the reduction of pollutants, particularly from transport.
