Annual Partner Survey 2011-2012

The Annual Partner Survey 2011-2012 report details the results of a voluntary survey conducted by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) in late 2011. • The network is perceived as highly effective in knowledge sharing, with over 83% of respondents rating it as 'effective' or 'very effective'. This perception was even stronger among respondents based in the South, where the figure rose to 91%.
• While 74% of total respondents viewed CDKN as effective or very effective at facilitating partnerships between organisations, there was a significant geographic divide: 83% of Southern respondents held this view, compared to only 56% of Northern respondents.
• CDKN's influence is most pronounced regarding organizational ideas, visibility, and networks, but it is seen as having less impact on capacity, practices, and policies. Over 75% of respondents indicated that CDKN had 'some' or 'much' influence over their ideas or those of their organisations.
• The survey revealed a disparity in satisfaction based on the type of respondent. NGOs and research institutes were the most positive, particularly regarding the development of partnerships (over 80% rating it 'good' or 'very good'). Conversely, individual consultants—many of whom are members of the Roster of Experts—were more likely to rate CDKN's performance poorly.
• Respondents provided critical feedback regarding CDKN's administrative systems and procurement procedures. Specifically, members of the Roster of Experts expressed concerns that systems are biased toward larger organisations and that the tendering process is prohibitive for individual consultants.
• A specific criticism was directed at the micro-management of partnerships by PwC, which some respondents claimed created an administrative and financial burden that hindered both developed and developing country organisations from working with CDKN.
