This report details the establishment and initial activities of the Gender and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI) Advisory Committee of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), following a series of decisions by the Conference of the Parties between 2020 and 2022.

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) established a policy on gender, equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in June 2022 to integrate these considerations into its scientific projects and capacity-building activities. The policy aims to increase the participation of underrepresented groups—including women, indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, racialized groups, and LGBTQ+ individuals—to improve the quality of regional science and public policy regarding global change.

This report summarizes the activities of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) from May 2023 to April 2024 to implement its Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) policy. The IAI aims to mainstream EDI into research funding, improve working environments, and increase the visibility of underrepresented groups in global environmental change research.
