MENU OF VOLUNTARY ACTIONS

The Coalition of Trade Ministers on Climate has established a framework of voluntary actions to integrate trade policy with climate goals. • The Coalition aims to integrate policy silos by promoting joint Ministerial-level dialogue between the portfolios of trade, climate, and finance, and by advocating for the nexus of trade, climate, and sustainable development at major forums such as UN Climate Change Conferences and WTO Ministerial Conferences.
• Members intend to use the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its Trade Policy Review mechanism to address domestic climate measures, incentivize sustainable production via non-distortionary policies, and share methods for disseminating climate technologies.
• The Coalition commits to supporting the most vulnerable nations—specifically least developed countries, landlocked developing countries, and small island developing states—through Aid for Trade, capacity building, and technical assistance to facilitate climate-resilient development and just transitions.
• The framework identifies several priority areas for international cooperation, including green hydrogen, renewable energy access, sustainable agriculture and food systems, sustainable fisheries, and the measurement of embodied carbon content in traded goods to aid decarbonisation.
• The Coalition seeks to engage private sector leaders, including micro, small and medium size enterprises (MSMEs), to promote women's empowerment and develop transparent, resilient supply chains for climate mitigation and adaptation.
