African Futures

The African Futures website provides forecasts and scenario modeling for African development through 2043, utilizing the International Futures modelling platform to analyze progress toward the AU's Agenda 2063.

• The African Futures platform models potential progress toward the AU's Agenda 2063 vision using various scenarios with a forecast horizon extending to 2043. These reports are categorized by country, region, income group, and regional economic communities.
• The site's geographic component forecasts development futures for every African country, region, regional economic community, and World Bank income group. Each report includes a 'Current Path', eight thematic scenarios, and a combined Agenda 2063 scenario representing the sum effect of all themes.
• The platform models 17 thematic areas, including energy, climate change, agriculture, manufacturing, financial flows, and the AfCFTA. It utilizes the International Futures modelling platform, an open-source tool developed and hosted by the Frederick S. Pardee Center at the University of Denver, which allows users to simulate policy interventions.
