This fact sheet describes the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), an alliance of six organizations providing research, advisory services, and knowledge sharing to help developing countries implement climate-compatible development. The CDKN focuses on four strategic themes: climate-compatible development strategies, improving access to climate finance, strengthening climate resilience through disaster risk management, and supporting climate negotiators from Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

• The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) is managed by an alliance of six organizations: PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano, SouthSouthNorth, LEAD (International and Pakistan), and INTRAC.
• CDKN defines "climate-compatible development" as development that minimizes damage from climate impacts while maximizing human development opportunities provided by transitions to a more resilient, low-emission future.
• The organization operates under four strategic priority themes: climate-compatible development strategies and plans; improving access to climate finance for developing countries; strengthening climate resilience via climate-related disaster risk management; and supporting climate negotiators from Least Developed Countries.
• Developing countries require approximately USD 100 billion in climate financing for the 2010-2020 period to adapt to negative climate effects and transition to low-carbon development paths, a goal agreed upon in the 2009 Copenhagen Accords.
• CDKN provides technical assistance to governments in developing countries to integrate climate-resilient and low-carbon growth into policy and planning, increase institutional capacity for climate finance, and improve cross-sector and cross-country coordination.
• The CDKN is funded by the United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DFID) and the Netherlands' Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DGIS).
