NATIONAL ADAPTATION PLAN (NAP) APPROACH

Madagascar's National Adaptation Plan (NAP) is led by the Ministry of climate risk management and utilizes a participatory, inclusive, and intersectoral approach. The process is guided by a validated roadmap and supported by coordination and monitoring and evaluation committees. Priority adaptation sectors include agriculture, water resources, infrastructure, forests and biodiversity, human health, and coastal zone management, addressing risks such as floods, droughts, hurricanes, sea level rise, and epidemics.

• Madagascar's NAP process is characterized by a participatory and inclusive approach for all stakeholders, coordinated by the Ministry of climate risk management, which serves as the lead entity for all climate change combat actions.
• The NAP process has established a validated roadmap and specific committees dedicated to coordination as well as monitoring and evaluation.
• The NAP identifies several priority sectors for adaptation, including Agriculture, Water resources, Infrastructure, Forests and biodiversity, Human health, and Coastal zone management, to address impacts such as Floods, Droughts, Sea level rise, Hurricane, and Epidemics.
• The NAP process milestones between 2015 and 2017 included regional awareness workshops, the launch of the NAP process, the establishment of coordination and monitoring committees, training on roadmap development, and the implementation of the Annual Work Program (AWP) with monitoring indicators.
