List of Countries that have Signed, Ratified/Acceded to the AU Convention on the Prevention and Combating of Terrorism as at 23 June 2006

This fact sheet provides a list of countries that have signed, ratified, or acceded to the African Union (AU) Convention on the Prevention and Combating of Terrorism as of 23 June 2006.

• As of 23 June 2006, a total of 48 countries had signed the AU Convention on the Prevention and Combating of Terrorism, while 36 countries had ratified or acceded to it and deposited the relevant documents.
• The document records specific dates for the signature, ratification/accession, and deposit for various member states. For example, Algeria signed on 14 July 1999, ratified on 16 September 2000, and deposited on 3 November 2000.
• Several countries are listed as having signed the convention but had not yet ratified or acceded to it by 23 June 2006, including Botswana, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Cote dIvoire, Congo, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, and Zambia.
