• Investments in adaptation and resilience measures often provide high returns; 80% of surveyed companies reported benefit-to-cost ratios (BCRs) between 2:1 and 15:1, with some water collection and storage measures reaching 53:1.
• Companies are increasingly using the Climate Disclosure Project (CDP) to report physical risks; approximately 25% of over 18,700 companies that filed in 2022 identified the financial materiality of physical risks and their management actions.
• The market for adaptation and resilience solutions is growing, with solution providers earning a median valuation multiple of 9 times revenue, and some reaching as high as 77 times revenue, particularly in field IoT for agriculture.
• Funding for adaptation and resilience solutions is diverse but concentrated, with food and agriculture accounting for 38% of tracked funding, followed by energy at 34%, health at 10%, and water at 4%.
• Public-private partnerships (PPPs) and blended finance are critical for de-risking investments in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs), providing catalytic capital and technical assistance to make projects bankable.
• The US government's PREPARE plan aims to help over 500 million people in developing countries adapt to climate change by 2030 through a whole-of-government effort involving 19 federal agencies.
