Reflections on 2020: The Global Resilience Partnership

The Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) reports its 2020 activities, focusing on convening diverse voices through the Race to Zero and Race to Resilience campaigns, promoting shared learning via the Resilience Knowledge Coalition and Voices from the Frontline initiative, and advancing knowledge through the South to South Resilience Academy. The GRP also highlights efforts to scale innovative finance for coastal resilience through the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance and for fragile regions in collaboration with GEF and UNDP.

• The GRP supported the UNFCCC High Level Climate Champions in conducting Regional Resilience Dialogues, which integrated community voices into the Race to Zero Dialogues. These dialogues involved 100 partners, 89 sessions, and over 350 speakers from nearly 65 countries, with 30 sessions specifically addressing resilience and adaptation.
• The Race to Resilience (R2R) campaign was established with the objective of mobilizing non-state actors to enhance the resilience of 4 billion vulnerable people to climate risks by the year 2030.
• The GRP is co-creating the Resilience Knowledge Coalition with ICCCAD/LUCCC and SSN/CDKN to influence policies, plans, and investments through peer-to-peer learning, measurement, evidence, and policy shaping.
• The GRP launched the first South to South Resilience Academy (S2SRA) with ICCCAD to develop policy advocacy, communication materials, and knowledge to strengthen community responses to COVID-19.
• The GRP is implementing initiatives to scale innovative finance, including six coastal resilience projects via the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA) and a call for expressions of interest with GEF and UNDP to support financial mechanisms in conflict-prone and fragile regions.
