Inclusive Job Centre (IJC)

The Inclusive Job Centre (IJC) is an initiative in Bangladesh, established in 2015 and supported by the governments of Bangladesh and Germany, designed to promote economic and social inclusion for persons with disabilities within the textile and garment industries.

• The Inclusive Job Centre (IJC) was established in 2015 in Dhaka to support the textile and garment industries by matching persons with disabilities with employment and training, providing advisory services, and developing tools such as factory assessment checklists, training manuals, and human resources guidelines to advance disability-inclusion.
• The IJC has achieved several measurable outcomes, including the registration and assessment of over 700 persons with disabilities, with 250 finding jobs and over 500 completing vocational or rights-based training. Additionally, approximately 230 factories have implemented disability inclusion measures, many with IJC advisory support.
• There is a shift in perception among ready-made garment companies in Bangladesh, moving from viewing the hiring of persons with disabilities as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity to seeing it as a business advantage, noting that disabled workers are as productive as non-disabled peers and improve overall workplace morale and cooperation.
