• Electricity sector CO2 emissions increased by 7% in 2021 to 778 million tonnes, marking the largest percentage increase since 2010 and the largest absolute increase ever recorded.
• To limit global warming to 1.5 degrees, wind and solar energy must maintain an annual growth rate of 20% until 2030, which aligns with their average growth over the last decade.
