Reporting for Results-based REDD+

The Reporting for Results-based REDD+ (RRR+) project is a joint initiative by the Coalition for Rainforest Nations (CfRN) and the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) running from 2017 to 2019. It aims to help 21 tropical and subtropical forest countries develop the technical and institutional capacity to create accurate greenhouse gas inventories for the agriculture, forestry, and other land use (AFOLU) sectors. This capacity is essential for countries to submit reports to the UNFCCC and unlock results-based REDD+ payments. The project provides tailored training based on IPCC methods, supports the submission of National Communications and Biennial Update Reports, and promotes gender equality in natural resource management.

• The RRR+ project is a three-year effort (2017-2019) targeting 21 tropical and subtropical forest countries to improve their ability to measure greenhouse gas emissions reductions and the enhancement of carbon stocks within the agriculture, forest, and other land use (AFOLU) sectors.
• Accurate reporting is a prerequisite for receiving results-based REDD+ finance; countries must submit greenhouse gas inventories to the UNFCCC to access these payments.

• Beyond financial incentives, forest conservation and restoration are identified as cost-effective climate mitigation tools that help countries meet their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and improve climate adaptation, such as curbing flooding and erosion via forested watersheds.
• The project supports the official UNFCCC reporting process, specifically assisting countries with their National Communication and Biennial Update Report cycles.
