Climate and Development Knowledge Network Helping developing countries to design and deliver climate compatible development

This fact sheet describes the mission, strategic themes, and operational achievements of the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), an alliance of six organisations dedicated to helping developing countries implement climate compatible development.

• The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) is managed by an alliance of six organisations: PwC, the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano, SouthSouthNorth, LEAD (International and Pakistan), and INTRAC.
• CDKN defines 'climate compatible development' as an approach that moves beyond the traditional separation of adaptation, mitigation, and development to prioritise development goals and follow low-carbon paths while building resilience and reducing poverty.
• The organisation operates across four strategic priority themes: climate compatible development strategies and plans, improving access to climate finance for developing countries, strengthening resilience through climate-related disaster risk management, and supporting climate negotiators from the least developed and most climate-vulnerable countries.
• CDKN reports significant operational reach, working in over 40 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and having supported policy change in 23 countries globally.
• The network provides specific support to the Least Developed Countries Group in UN climate talks through the Advocacy Fund, which offers legal, technical, administrative, and logistical support to ensure the poorest nations have a stronger voice in international agreements.
• CDKN is funded by the Netherlands Foreign Ministry (DGIS) and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) for an initial five-year period.
