This case study describes the efforts of Hamara Grid Private Limited to implement solar mini-grids in the Mon district of Nagaland, India. The project employs a Public-Private-People’s-Partnership (PPPP) model to address the poor reliability and quality of the national grid in remote areas, aiming to integrate clean energy with rural economic development, health, and education.

This case study describes the installation of a 14.4 kWp solar PV off-grid connect system at Orotta Hospital in Eritrea, developed by Phaesun GmbH and funded by the NGO Archemed. The system was designed to provide a reliable power supply for pediatric cardiac surgery and neonatology wards, mitigating the impact of frequent power cuts and unreliable diesel generators. Operational since December 2014, the system integrates solar PV, battery storage, and existing grid/diesel backups to ensure uninterruptible power for critical medical services.
