Advancing inclusive cooperation on trade and climate

• International cooperation is needed to help small-island developing states (SIDS) build a circular economy by establishing common standards for sustainable production and consumption and providing the necessary technical and financial capacity.
• The global financial architecture requires reform to improve climate financing for SIDS, as current criteria like gross national income per capita often disqualify them from concessional financing, while wealthier nations use green industrial policies to gain trade advantages.
• Global action on trade and climate must shift from a zero-sum model of economic competition to one of economic cooperation and inclusive growth to ensure that no country or individual is left behind.
