This fact sheet describes the BalticClimate toolkit, a resource developed between 2008 and 2012 to support local and regional stakeholders in the Baltic Sea Region in addressing climate change through adaptation, mitigation, and economic development.

• The BalticClimate toolkit was developed to address a gap in support, resources, and experience for local and regional authorities, who are critical for the implementation of climate mitigation and adaptation measures, such as land-use planning.
• The toolkit provides climate science overviews and 100-year projections for the Baltic Sea Region based on two scenarios: one featuring continued rapid growth and intensive energy use, and another with slower growth and lower energy use.
• The toolkit offers sector-specific projections for the overall economy, forestry, health, the natural environment, and three key sectors: housing (including water), energy, and agriculture.
• The toolkit provides tailored resources for three specific leverage points: policy-makers (checklists for planning aspects), spatial planners (a Vulnerability Assessment framework and planning guidelines), and the business community (a Climate SWOT analysis emphasizing a life-cycle perspective).
• To assist users in finding 'win-win-win' solutions for economic development, mitigation, and adaptation, the toolkit includes over 120 examples across 15 topics based on good planning practices and project partner exercises within the Baltic Sea Region.
