Public Readiness and Willingness to Support Initiatives for a Green Transition in Moldova Country Report

This report analyzes public perceptions in Moldova regarding the green transition, finding that while a majority of the population feels they understand climate change and support renewable energy, significant barriers such as lack of time and financial costs hinder personal engagement. The study highlights a strong public desire for government financial incentives for renewable energy and identifies waste management and green space expansion as top environmental priorities.

• Public self-perception of climate change understanding in Moldova is generally positive, with 61% rating their knowledge as "good" (40%) or "very good" (21%). Perceived knowledge peaks among 35-44-year-olds and correlates with education; 83% of those with a PhD or equivalent rate their understanding as "good," compared to only 14% of those with no formal education.
• Television is the primary source of environmental information for people aged 45+, men, rural residents, and the unemployed. Facebook is the dominant source for women, rural residents, and employed individuals, while personal networks (family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues) are key for urban residents and those aged 65+.
