Climate tool users' perceptions, needs and access constraints

This research paper examines the perceptions and access constraints of users of climate information tools, based on a survey of 343 participants across five European countries.

• A cross-national survey of 343 participants from Estonia, Germany, Poland, Sweden, and Ukraine revealed that users possess varying skills and preferences regarding language, information depth, and data visualisation.
• Users generally have low awareness of available climate information tools and express a preference for information in their native languages, indicating a specific need to address language gaps in Eastern Europe.
• To avoid deterring non-experts, climate tools must be user-friendly and flexible. The study suggests that co-development and collaboration are necessary to improve information presentation and link real-time weather events to long-term trends.
