NAP Global Network Peer Learning Strategy

The NAP Global Network Peer Learning Strategy establishes a framework for South-South knowledge exchange to enhance the development and implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) in developing countries. Moving away from one-off events, the strategy prioritizes sustained, continuous learning through four primary activity types: Peer Learning Forums, Peer Exchanges, Peer Learning Cohorts, and 1:1 Peer Learning Partnerships. The approach integrates technical, relational, reflexive, and experiential components, while emphasizing gender equality and social inclusion (GESI). The strategy also links peer learning with national-level action and knowledge generation to create a 'value chain' of support for adaptation practitioners.

• Since 2014, the NAP Global Network has engaged over 600 participants from more than 70 countries through 21 peer learning events, including four multi-year cohorts.
• The Network identifies four core components essential for effective peer learning: technical inputs from experts, relational opportunities for peer connection, reflexive activities to apply learning to home contexts, and experiential activities in real-world settings.
• The strategy defines four distinct peer learning activity models based on scale and continuity: Peer Learning Forums (10-12 countries, standalone), Peer Exchanges (under 5 countries, standalone), Peer Learning Cohorts (6-8 countries, meeting for at least 3 years), and 1:1 Peer Learning Partnerships (2-3 countries, minimum 2 years).
• The Network employs a specific set of minimum requirements and preferred approaches to integrate gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), such as targeting at least 50% women's participation in organizing committees and among event participants.
