VIET NAM

Viet Nam is developing a National Adaptation Plan for 2021-2030 with a Vision 2050, aimed at reducing climate vulnerabilities and integrating adaptation into socio-economic planning. The process is linked to the country's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), which is being updated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment. Priority sectors for adaptation include agriculture, public health, and infrastructure, addressing impacts such as sea level rise and saltwater intrusion.

• The National Climate Change Adaptation Plan has two primary objectives: reducing vulnerabilities to climate change by improving resilience and adaptive capacity, and integrating adaptation actions into policies, programs, and socio-economic development planning across ministries and localities.
• Viet Nam's National Adaptation Plan is designed for the 2021-2030 period with a Vision 2050. The process follows a series of milestones starting from the 2011 National Climate Change Strategy, including the 2016 submission of the INDC and the 2019 launch of the NAP process.
• The adaptation strategy identifies several priority sectors and climate impacts, including agriculture and rural development, public health, transport, and infrastructure. Key anticipated impacts include sea level rise, saltwater intrusion, floods, storms, and droughts.
