Zimbabwe’s Initial Adaptation Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

Zimbabwe's Initial Adaptation Communication aims to highlight adaptation progress and reduce socio-economic vulnerability to climate change. It is intended to facilitate resource mobilisation for resilience-building interventions as the country finalises its National Adaptation Plan by the end of 2022, ensuring alignment with national climate policy frameworks.

• The Initial Adaptation Communication was developed to enhance the profile of adaptation and document progress in mainstreaming climate change to lower the vulnerability of socio-economic sectors to climate impacts.
• Zimbabwe intends to use this communication to drive resource mobilisation for adaptation interventions to build resilience within a low carbon trajectory, coinciding with the finalisation of its National Adaptation Plan by the end of 2022.
• The implementation of the Adaptation Communication is designed to be consistent with Zimbabwe's existing national climate change policy framework and associated strategies.
