• Economic engagement is significant, with South Africa accounting for 21 per cent of the DRC's total imports and two-way trade rising to R7,8 billion in 2011.
• South Africa has failed to sufficiently promote gender mainstreaming in its post-conflict development and peacebuilding efforts, despite having extensive experience in this area.
