Manuel de formation sur l’EEI

The 'Manuel de formation sur l’EEI' is a comprehensive training tool developed by UNEP and partners to strengthen capacities in integrated environmental assessment (IEA). It defines IEA as a process to produce future-oriented policy information on interactions between the natural environment and human society. The manual is structured into two volumes: Volume 1 covers eight basic methodological modules (ranging from process design and impact strategies to scenario analysis and communication), and Volume 2 provides thematic modules, specifically focusing on Vulnerability and Impact Assessments for climate change adaptation (VIA). The training emphasizes a participatory, interactive approach and is supported by a digital platform and an e-learning version to facilitate global collaboration and continuous learning among practitioners.

• The GEO-4 process identifies four plausible future scenarios for 2050 based on different policy approaches: 'markets first', 'policy first', 'security first', and 'sustainability first'.
• The IEA process follows a structured seven-step sequence: Start-up, Institutional Organization, Scope and Design, Planning, Implementation, Communication of Results, and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning.
• The IEA approach uses the FPEIR analytical framework to link Driving forces (F), Pressures (P), State (E), Impacts (I), and Responses (R) to understand environmental changes and their effects on human well-being.
