The IAI and its partners commit to enhancing regional resilience in the Americas by integrating transdisciplinary science into early warning systems for droughts and floods, promoting scientific diplomacy, and ensuring open data exchange to support agriculture, energy, and ecosystem management.

• Recent World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reports indicate that the Americas are experiencing an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, including heatwaves, floods, and droughts, which have resulted in economic and human losses and negatively impacted biodiversity.
• While 69% of energy in Latin America and the Caribbean comes from renewable sources as of 2024, extreme weather events and droughts pose significant risks to the energy transition, specifically regarding energy sustainability and hydroelectric power generation.
• The signatories commit to strengthening regional early warning and response systems for extreme phenomena by applying transdisciplinary science across meteorology, hydrology, economics, and social sciences to benefit sectors such as health, energy, transport, and agriculture.
• The document emphasizes the need to implement the UN 'Early Warnings for All' (EW4All) initiative in the Americas by 2027, requiring regional cooperation and the integration of local and scientific knowledge to protect lives and livelihoods.
