Respuestas de las Partes a la encuesta de satisfacción sobre la organización de la CoP-29

The IAI report on the CoP-29 satisfaction survey finds that virtual meetings increased participation (14 Parties) compared to previous physical meetings in Brasilia, Antigua, and Bogotá. While participants were generally satisfied with the organization and documentation, the IAI identified a need for better introductory materials for new members and more frequent communication via newsletters and Zoom updates. The report highlights a trade-off between increased accessibility and the loss of informal networking opportunities.

• Virtual meetings for the CoP-28 and CoP-29 led to an increase in participation compared to previous physical meetings. Both virtual conferences had 14 Parties participating, whereas physical meetings such as CoP-27 in Brasilia (2019), CoP-26 in Antigua, Guatemala (2018), and CoP-25 in Bogotá (2017) had 10, 12, and 12 Parties respectively.
• While virtual meetings increased participation and reduced costs, they created challenges regarding networking and interpersonal relationships. The document notes that "discusiones casuales y las oportunidades para la creación de redes están ausentes en el mundo virtual," although videoconferencing allows early-career officials to participate who might not attend physical meetings.
• Survey results indicate a need for better introductory materials and orientation for new participants. Seven Parties reported that CoP-29 was their first participation, and seven Parties stated they only had general familiarity with the IAI's mandate and work, while one had little knowledge.
• The majority of participants were satisfied with the organization and documentation of CoP-29. Eleven Parties stated that the organization met their expectations, and eleven Parties were satisfied with the format and presentation of official documentation, while one Party expressed partial satisfaction in both cases.
• Participants expressed a strong preference for diverse communication channels from the IAI. The most requested methods were monthly newsletters, official email notifications, and Zoom update meetings during inter-sessional periods, each receiving 7 votes from the 12 responding Parties.
