• Virtual formats present a trade-off: they eliminate casual discussions and networking opportunities but allow early-career officials, who might not attend physical meetings, to participate.
• There is a significant need for more comprehensive introductory materials and preparatory meetings, as seven Parties were attending their first CoP and seven others reported only general familiarity with the IAI's mandate and work.
• Participants expressed a strong preference for diverse communication channels between sessions, with the highest demand for monthly newsletters, official email notifications, and Zoom update meetings (each selected by 7 Parties).
• Parties identified useful knowledge gained at CoP-29 regarding regional climate assessment data, modelling, the STeP program, and initiatives like the SISSA project and EPIC model, which can inform national mitigation and adaptation strategies.
• The report highlights a historical underrepresentation of the Caribbean region, suggesting the IAI Executive Directorate should engage with non-Party states to encourage agreement ratifications.
