IAI activities plan July 2015 – June 2016

The IAI activities plan for July 2015 – June 2016 outlines institutional restructuring, research initiatives focused on ecosystem services and adaptation, and a series of capacity-building seminars and workshops across Latin America and the Caribbean.

• The IAI is implementing a tripartite institutional structure approved in June 2013, which includes completing the transition of administration from Brazil to Uruguay in the second half of 2015 and establishing a coordinator/director in the Buenos Aires office.
• The IAI is redesigning its IT infrastructure, which includes hosting a new website server commercially in Buenos Aires and testing a customized video conferencing system based on a server in Europe that may be migrated to Montevideo.
• Research activities include monitoring CRN3 projects and preparing a small grants call on "the role of ecosystem services in adaptation" to fulfill a CoP 22 mandate to strengthen adaptation research.
• Capacity building plans for 2015 include a seminar on Integrated Management of Underground Water in Cartagena, Colombia (September 7-11), a conference on Sustainable Development and Global Environmental Change in Panama City, Panama (October 27-29), and a tentatively scheduled November 2015 workshop on Climate Change Impacts on Biodiversity in the Tropical Andes.
• Between 2016 and 2018, the IAI intends to develop four Professional Development Seminars covering transdisciplinary scientific team management, tropical forest ecosystem services, global change and health approaches, and climate change impacts on human health in the MERCOSUR.
