CLIMATE FINANCE ACCELERATOR (CFA)

The Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) is a UK-funded global programme designed to bridge the gap between available climate finance and promising projects by improving their bankability. In South Africa, the programme is delivered by the National Business Initiative and GreenCape, selecting 13 businesses from 120 applicants to receive capacity building in low-carbon technologies, climate mitigation, and blended finance to support the country's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

• The Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) is a global technical assistance programme funded by the UK Government’s International Climate Finance that aims to make climate projects more bankable and appealing to investors.
• The South African iteration of the CFA selected 13 businesses for technical support from a pool of over 120 applications. These projects span several sectors, including four in the waste sector, four in the energy sector, three in the transport sector, one in the water sector, and one in the agricultural sector.
• Selected businesses in South Africa receive capacity building support in blended finance, climate mitigation, low carbon technologies, and advice on social inclusion and gender equality to attract both international and domestic financiers.
