CLIMATE FINANCE ACCELERATOR (CFA)

This case study describes the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA), a global technical assistance programme funded by the UK Government to help promising climate projects become more bankable and attractive to investors.

• The Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) is a global technical assistance programme funded by the UK Government’s International Climate Finance designed to help climate projects secure funding by making them more bankable and appealing to investors.
• The CFA South Africa initiative received 120 applications and selected 13 businesses for its first cohort. These businesses will receive capacity building support in low carbon technologies, climate mitigation, 'blended' finance, and advice on social inclusion and gender equality to attract international and South African financiers.
• The 13 selected projects in South Africa are distributed across several sectors: energy (4), waste (4), transport (3), agriculture (1), and water (1).
