End of Year Letter to our Partners and Collaborators

The Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) 2022 end-of-year letter outlines the organization's efforts to catalyze resilience investments and initiatives, highlighting partnerships with the private sector, the launch of innovation challenges in East Africa, and the operation of the COP Resilience Hub.

• The GRP's Innovative Finance for Resilience initiative collaborates with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Global Environment Facility’s Challenge Program for Adaptation Innovation, Lutheran World Relief (LWR) in Uganda, and the Near East Foundation (NEF) in Sudan to provide small-scale farmers with access to fairly-priced loans and improve risk perceptions.
• In 2022, GRP launched the Resilient Agriculture Innovations for Nature (RAIN) Challenge with the Shockwave Foundation to support entrepreneurs driving resilience agriculture innovation and investment in East Africa.
• The GRP co-hosted the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA), which secured funding from the UK and Canadian governments to develop financial tools for coastal resilience and produce reports on ocean risks for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
• At COP27, GRP, USAID, and the U.S. Presidential Envoy for Climate launched the PREPARE Call to Action for the private sector, which received responses from ten companies: Google, Gro Intelligence, Marsh McLennan, Mastercard, Meta, Microsoft, Pegasus Capital Advisors, PepsicCo., WTW, and SAP.
• The COP Resilience Hub engaged over 10,000 in-person and 5,000 online participants to increase ambition and action regarding climate resilience, including a program focused on the use of art and culture for communication.
• GRP is diversifying its organizational structure by increasing the participation of southern-led organizations, appointing an Advisory Council chair and deputy chair from the Global South, and registering as a non-profit organization in South Africa.
