GEC Membership

The Green Economy Coalition (GEC) is a global network of diverse organizations—including charities, businesses, and researchers—dedicated to economic transformation based on five core principles: wellbeing, justice, planetary boundaries, sufficiency, and good governance.

• The Green Economy Coalition (GEC) operates as a global network of citizen's groups, charities, development agencies, businesses, and researchers that aims to develop policies, hold governments accountable, and build support for economic transformation. Membership is free, though members are expected to engage in collaboration and commit to five specific principles: wellbeing, justice, planetary boundaries, sufficiency, and good governance.
• The GEC focuses its efforts on four primary impact pathways: creating new narratives to challenge norms, building a citizen-led bottom-up movement to represent community voices, influencing policy by refining the diagnosis of economic system flaws, and maintaining a decentralized 'network of networks' that is regionally rooted.
• The GEC has held annual Global Meetings in Europe, the Caribbean, South Africa, and India, and maintains a global hub in London. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a goal to reduce its carbon footprint, the organization has increased its use of online events, such as the African Forum on Green Economy conducted in May-June 2020.
