Long Term Finance

A report by FSD Africa detailing a project (April 2017 to June 2022) aimed at increasing long-term finance (LTF) in Sub-Saharan Africa through the creation of an LTF scoreboard and the improvement of public data availability.

• The project sought to replicate the progress made in financial inclusion by improving the availability of public data on long-term finance markets in Sub-Saharan Africa, specifically through the development of an LTF scoreboard. This tool is intended to address information gaps for stakeholders such as donors, DFIs, and private and public investors to help identify efficient ways to deepen domestic markets by leveraging public funding and mobilising private resources.
• The project achieved several specific milestones, including the finalisation of the LTF scoreboard and the launch of a corresponding website hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB), which will disseminate data annually. Additionally, diagnostics of the long-term finance landscape were completed for Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire, with the latter launched in Abidjan.
