• The positive effect of market access extends to the number of firms. An increase of 10% in market access results in an 8-10% increase in the number of firms in a municipality.
• The report highlights significant inefficiencies and gaps in Brazil's transport matrix, noting that road transport is 2.5 times more expensive than water transport and 6.4 times more expensive than rail transport per ton per 1,000 km.
