Advancing gender-equitable and socially-inclusive climate-resilient development

The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) is implementing a five-year programme (2022–27) focused on accelerating locally-led, equitable, and ecosystem-based climate action. The initiative targets disadvantaged groups, including women, Indigenous Peoples, and migrants, across Africa, South Asia, and Latin America. CDKN's strategy centers on three priority areas: integrating gender equality and social inclusion into climate policies, enabling inclusive finance for local action, and implementing effective ecosystem-based adaptation. The approach emphasizes 'knowledge-into-action' by combining local, Indigenous, and scientific knowledge to strengthen Southern leadership and institutional capacity.

• Between 2022 and 2027, CDKN will focus on accelerating climate action that is ecosystem-based, financed, and locally-led, specifically aiming to strengthen the climate leadership of disadvantaged groups such as women, children, elderly people, Indigenous Peoples, migrants, displaced people, and those in informal settlements.
• CDKN has identified three priority action areas: the integration of social inclusion and gender equality within climate practice and policy, the provision of inclusive finance for locally-led action, and the implementation of effective ecosystem-based adaptation.
• The CDKN 'knowledge-into-action' approach utilizes six elements—leadership, collaboration, context, knowledge, learning, and capacity—to weave together scientific, local, and Indigenous knowledge for the co-creation of climate solutions.
