Water security and climate resilient development

This fact sheet outlines a stakeholder map for water security and climate resilient development, categorizing the risks, services, supporting activities, organizations, and specialist capacities involved in managing water resources.

• Climate-related risks to water security are categorized into three timeframes: immediate disasters such as fluvial and coastal flooding, wind and wave damage, and geotechnical hazards; intrannual and interannual drought events; and long-term changes including saline intrusion, coastal erosion, and changing extremes.
• Water services are divided into cross-sectoral water planning and allocation for water resources, strategic planning and operational management for water supply and sanitation, and related activities in energy, tourism, industry, and agricultural water management.
• The organizational landscape for water security includes regional bodies such as CARICOM mandated entities, NGOs, IFIs, and universities, as well as national public and private actors including government departments, water utilities, and consultants.
