Building climate resilience in cities

• Urbanisation is increasing rapidly, with 54% of the global population (4 billion people) living in cities, and the urban population growing by 57 million people annually.
• CDKN has implemented several specific initiatives to build urban resilience, including heat risk reduction in Ahmedabad, India; the Plan 4C for climate adaptation in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia; and carbon and water footprinting in Andean cities.
• CDKN provides support to partner countries through tailored climate science, capability-building for inclusive governance, implementation of the Paris Agreement at the local level, and the mobilisation of innovative resources for climate investments.
