Alliance pour le Climat et le Développement Aider les pays en développement à concevoir et à mettre en œuvre des activités de développement compatibles avec le climat

This guide describes the mission, strategic themes, and operational approach of the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), an alliance managed by six organizations to help developing countries implement climate-compatible development activities.

• The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) aims to support decision-makers in creating 'triple win' outcomes that simultaneously achieve low-carbon development, increase resilience, and reduce poverty.
• CDKN focuses its activities on four strategic themes: climate-compatible development strategies and plans, improving access to climate finance for developing countries, strengthening resilience through climate-related disaster risk management, and supporting climate negotiators from the least advanced and most vulnerable countries.
• The organization provides technical, legal, administrative, and logistical support to negotiators from the Least Developed Countries (LDC) group to ensure they are influential in international climate negotiations, such as the 2011 UNFCCC Conference of the Parties in Durban, South Africa.
• CDKN addresses the gap in climate finance, noting that developing countries require an estimated 100 billion US dollars between 2010 and 2020 for adaptation and low-carbon transitions, a target agreed upon in the 2009 Copenhagen Accords.
• The alliance has operated in over 40 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, contributing to public policy changes in 23 countries and spending 30 million US dollars annually.
• CDKN is funded for an initial five-year period by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Netherlands' Directorate General for International Cooperation (DGIS).
