This initiative involves the state governments of Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Orissa, and includes the development of training modules for policy-makers, artisans, and building professionals.
• A mobile phone app designed to help Indian farmers adapt to climate change, promoted via a TV documentary called 'Life Apps', is being piloted with one million farmers in Andhra Pradesh by the Society for Eradication of Rural Poverty (SERP) and Community Managed Sustainable Agriculture (CMSA).
• Mihir Bhatt, Director of the All India Disaster Mitigation Institute, argues that the findings of the IPCC SREX report must be filtered down to the state level in India because state authorities and NGOs are closer to risk and reduction measures than the national government. He suggests the report's messages should be contextualized for key sectors such as agriculture, finance, urban development, and infrastructure.
