• The group of 48 Least Developed Countries (LDCs) viewed the outcomes of CoP17 in Durban with mixed feelings, welcoming the operationalisation of the Adaptation Committee, the process for national adaptation plans, and the adoption of the Green Climate Fund's governing instrument. The LDCs also supported the adoption of the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol to prevent a gap after December 2012.
• Despite the LDCs' role in the "coalition of ambition" with the EU and AOSIS, the Durban conference failed to resolve central mitigation issues. Current pledges are projected to lead to a global temperature increase of 3 to 4 °C, and the conference did not agree that global emissions would decline by 2015 or 2017, delaying necessary steps to the 2013-2020 period.
• For the post-2012 agenda, the LDC group emphasizes that developed countries must provide Quantified Emission Limitation and Reduction Commitment (QELRC) and increase mitigation ambitions. Additionally, the predictability and additionality of climate finance sources remain unresolved and require urgent discussion for effective implementation.
