Climate data and projections: Supporting evidence-based decision-making in the Caribbean

The CARibbean Weather Impacts Group (CARIWIG) project, funded by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), provides free access to downscaled climate data and simulation tools for the Caribbean region. These resources, which include a weather generator, a tropical storm model, and a regional drought analysis tool, are designed to help decision-makers understand potential impacts of temperature changes, rainfall, tropical storms, and drought. While the brief notes that downscaling increases uncertainty and that data should not be the sole basis for action, it emphasizes that these tools help build a picture of potential impacts on key economic sectors. The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) provides training and support for using these outputs.
