INSIDE STORY: Treading low-carbon pathways toward sustainability: The experience of Bogor City (Indonesian language version)

This case study describes how Bogor City utilized the Urban Low Emission Development Strategies (Urban-LEDS) project and ICLEI’s GreenClimateCities2 framework to integrate low-carbon strategies into its local development plans to improve liveability.

• The Urban-LEDS project helped Bogor City develop a low-carbon plan over 2.5 years using the 'analyse–act–accelerate' model from ICLEI’s GreenClimateCities2 framework, emphasizing the need for collaboration between technical departments and local chief executives to move from planning to implementation.
• Bogor City used a greenhouse gas emissions inventory to prioritize specific low-carbon projects, including streetlight retrofitting and pedestrianisation.
• Integrating Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS) into the city's regional medium-term plan enabled the local government to secure financial support for these activities from the city budget.
• The case study emphasizes that projects should be approached from a macro perspective through intervention mapping with city government to ensure synergies and ownership, and notes that South–South–North exchanges with European and other emerging secondary cities provided valuable learning for integrating LEDS.
