Mainstreaming climate information into sector development plans: the case of Rwanda’s tea and coffee sectors

This report describes a methodology for integrating climate information into sector development plans to assess adaptation needs and implement interventions, using the agricultural development plans for tea and coffee in Rwanda as a practical case study.

This 'policy-first' approach emphasizes early interventions, the integration of climate adaptation into decision-making, the management of uncertainty in climate science, and the prioritization of actions to secure emerging climate finance.
• The application of climate and risk information is now structured as a sequence of activities within a larger decision policy cycle, beginning with the identification of relevant development objectives.
• The report utilizes a real-world case study to demonstrate the sequence of activities required to mainstream climate adaptation into Rwanda's sector agricultural development plan, specifically focusing on the tea and coffee sectors.
