This briefing document outlines a draft implementation plan for the Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) Policy of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI). Developed by the GEDI Committee during the 2022-2023 intersessional period, the plan translates the high-level goals of the IAI's GEDI Policy into eight specific operational goals and a series of actionable steps to improve inclusivity in scientific research, funding, and institutional administration.

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) established a Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Policy in June 2022 to mainstream EDI considerations into its scientific projects and capacity-building activities. The policy aims to increase the participation and leadership of underrepresented groups—including women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, racialized groups, and LGBTQ+ communities—to improve the quality of regional science and public policy related to global change.

This document is a report and draft decision from the 30th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), proposing the adoption of a revised Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Policy for scientific projects and capacity-building activities.
