The Clean Technology Fund

• The Clean Technology Fund (CTF), administered by the World Bank and Regional Development Banks, aims to use minimal concessional finance to enable investment opportunities that create long-term transformative effects on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in fast-growing developing countries. As of March 2010, US$4.35 billion of the $4.405 billion pledged has been earmarked for investment plans across 12 countries and a regional concentrating solar program in North Africa, with $888 million approved for 15 projects in 8 countries.
• This working paper series examines the CTF's innovations, challenges, governance structure, and results framework, specifically advocating for a stronger focus on governance and institutional capacity during program design.
