The International Partnership on Mitigation and Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)

This research paper serves as an input for the sixth meeting of the International Partnership on Mitigation and Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) held in Panama City in October 2011. It reviews the first five meetings of the Partnership to identify lessons learned and suggest ways to enhance the Partnership's value to the international climate community.

• The International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV was established in May 2010 in Germany by the governments of South Korea, South Africa, and Germany during the Petersberg Climate Dialogue I.
• The Partnership's primary objective is to facilitate the exchange of experiences between developed and developing nations, specifically assisting developing countries with three core areas: the creation of National Low Carbon Development Strategies (LCDS), Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs), and the establishment of systems for measuring, reporting, and verifying (MRV) mitigation efforts.
