Our Journey with the City: Deciphering WRI India Ross Center’s Influence in Bengaluru

The document assesses WRI India Ross Center's role as a change agent in Bengaluru since 2010, focusing on its transition from mobility to broader urban development, energy, water, and climate resilience. It identifies a data-led approach and sustained physical presence as key success factors, while noting that governance complexities and short funding timeframes present significant challenges.

• WRI India Ross Center established itself as a trusted, independent advisor in Bengaluru by combining technical skills and a data-led approach with a deep understanding of the local context.
• The organization's success in driving ecosystem change is attributed to its flexibility, physical presence, evidence-based methods, on-ground project demonstrations, and the use of innovative stakeholder engagement and partnerships.
• Key obstacles to the program's work include the city's rapid growth, complexities in governance and political economy, misalignment between stakeholders and policy, and the limited timeframes provided by partners and funders.
