Communicating Modeled Information for Adaptation Decision Making

This case study examines the HighNoon project in north India to determine how adaptation-relevant information, derived from regional climate and hydrological models and stakeholder perspectives, can be effectively packaged and disseminated to users at state, district, and block levels to support decision-making regarding hydrological extreme events.

• The HighNoon project, initiated in 2009, aimed to recommend efficient response strategies for adapting to hydrological extreme events by assessing the impact of Himalayan glacier retreat and expected changes in the Indian summer monsoon on water resource distribution in Northern India.
• The HighNoon project integrated stakeholder perspectives with information from regional climate and hydrological model scenarios to identify and prioritize adaptation strategies.
