This research paper describes a two-year project by the Stockholm Environment Institute to improve the quality of English Wikipedia articles related to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6, 13, and 14. • Readability improvements were minimal (3%) because the project prioritized content and the collaborating experts were not professional science journalists or "wordsmiths".
• The project struggled to overcome existing Wikipedia demographic biases; of the 39 collaborating experts, only seven (18%) were women and only one was from the Global South.
• The project resulted in the creation of several new spinoff articles, including those on "Greenhouse gas emissions", "Effects of climate change on agriculture", "Effects of climate change on mental health", and "Marine plastic pollution".
