FACT SHEET Country/region: Thailand

This fact sheet describes the 'Integrating Climate and Development' project in Thailand, a program running from March 2008 to December 2009. Funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and partnered with Thailand's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the project aims to fill the gap in concrete analysis regarding the integration of climate policies into national development plans.

• The project aims to identify climate strategies and policies that align with sustainable development through national and regional analysis, serving as part of a broader global initiative that also includes Chile, Bangladesh, Kenya, Pakistan, Senegal, and Vietnam.
• The project's national studies are overseen by a high-level multi-stakeholder steering committee of 12 to 20 members, chaired by a minister responsible for planning, environment, or climate change, with representation from government, parliament, business, academia, and civil society.
• The national study process involves an expert group based in an independent technical institution that coordinates the preparation of the study, utilizing a structure based on the IPCC format involving Lead Authors, Contributing Authors, Review Editors, and Convening Lead Authors.
• The global program is managed by a high-level global steering committee of up to 12 individuals, supported by an international expert group providing advice on topics such as financing, ethics and burden sharing, policy options, and climate change adaptation.
